Juniors

  • U-13 Rugby Is a contact League, Players will play 13V13 with modified field and rules. Coaches will continue to work on Learning to Train and Training to Train. The main objectives are to consolidate sports-specific skills and to build the physical capacities for sporting performance.ith modified field and rules.   • U-15 Rugby is a contact League 15v15 with full rules applied. Coaches Focus on Train to Compete with objectives are more specialized and position-specific to adequately prepare the player for the demands of competing. There is also more individualization such as a progressive training plan. Older U-15 Players may now start to Play in Summer with U-16s.

  • U-16 Rugby is a summer Contact League 15v15 with full rules applied. It starts after highschool season finishes. Coaches Focus on Train to Compete with objectives are more specialized and position-specific to adequately prepare the player for the demands of competing. Focus on personal fitness, individual ownership of performance.  Many games are videotaped and analyzed with players for feedback There is also more individualization such as a progressive training plan.

  • U-18 Rugby is a summer Contact League. After High school Rugby is over the players continue in summer months. Coaches focus on training to compete and training to win.  Physical, technical, and tactical skills that have been appropriately developed and mastered. The players are training with the aim of maximizing performance in order to win.

  • Pre-Season:
    • U13 Sundays in February and March. More details in our Post Here

  • Registration:
    • U13 & U15 Early Bird Prices: February 15th to March 31st, Regular Pricing: April 1st
    • U16 & U18 Early Bird Prices: February 15th to June 14th, Regular Pricing: June 15th
  • Parent’s Night: Friday, April 19th

    • Outdoor practices are held April, May, June and September, weather permitting
    • Monday and Thursday nights 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
    • Players need to provide their own mouthguard and rugby cleats

  • Games:
    • All games will be played on Saturdays from May 4th to June 22nd
    • Location: Calgary Rugby Union, 9025 Shepard Rd SE
      *  No games during long weekends
  • U16 & U18
  • Practices:
    *  Any High School players must wait until the end of the High School season to practice with a Club

    • Outdoor practices are held between June 10th and August 24th, weather permitting
    • Monday and Thursday nights 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
    • Players need to provide their own mouthguard and rugby cleats
      *  No Practices during long weekends
    • Boys Practice Location
    • Girls Practice Location
      • Monday & Thursday: Flame Community Arenas Fields, 4915 22 St SW
  • Games:
    • 5-6 game Summer Season
    • All games will be played on Wednesdays or Fridays from July 4th to August 16th
    • Southern Alberta Finals Saturday August 17th
    • Provincial Finals Tournament Saturday August 24th
    • Summer Location: Typically at the Calgary Rugby Union, 9025 Shepard Rd SE, but there will be some travel games.
      *  No games during long weekends
    • Fall 7s games are played on Saturdays September 7th to September 28th
    • Fall 7s will be Sevens Tournament Format
      *  No games during long weekends
  • Registration Fees:
    • Early bird U13 $322  |  Regular $422
    • Early bird U15 $356  |  Regular $456
    • Early bird U16 $311  |  Regular $361
    • Early bird U18 $311  |  Regular $361
      *  Registration includes: Socks, Shorts, Shirt, one Individual Photo and a Team Photo

    • Clearwater Cup: May 10th & 11th
    • Challenge Cup June 16th – Tryouts begin June10th
    • Alberta Regional Championships (ARC) June 28th -June 30th Location TBC
    • Stampede Sevens July 5th, 6th
    • Boys Touring side competitions in July (dates TBD).
