Removing financial barriers to sport is essential for creating inclusive, equitable opportunities where every child has the chance to participate, belong, and thrive. High costs for registration, equipment, and travel can prevent many families from accessing the lifelong benefits of sport — including physical health, confidence, teamwork, and community connection.

Jumpstart (Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities) works across Canada to help kids from families in financial need get into sport and physical activity. Through programs like Individual Child Grants and Community Development Grants, Jumpstart supports the costs of registration, equipment, and transportation and funds inclusive sport and play initiatives that ensure more children can be active regardless of financial circumstances.

KidSport is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that no child is left watching from the sidelines. It provides grants to cover sport registration fees and equipment costs for kids up to age 18, delivered through a network of local and provincial chapters. By easing the burden of sport costs, KidSport helps more young athletes access organized sport, build confidence, and enjoy the social and physical benefits of regular activity.
